Mild and balanced
It is an oil of gentle, medium-intensity fruitiness, with nuances recalling tomato and almond. On the palate the entry is sweet, accompanied by light bitterness; at the end a slight pungency appears, in perfect balance with the rest.
That harmony makes it an easy oil that does not compete with the ingredients and adapts to raw use as well as to stews and frying.
At the foot of Sierra Morena
Villanueva de la Reina lies at about 400 metres above sea level, at the foot of Sierra Morena. There the Oro Bailén family groves are 100% Picual, and the harvest takes place in November.
Harvesting is semi-manual: the trunk is shaken so the fruit falls sooner and in greater quantity, then gathered on nets and taken to the mill. Galgón 99, the company behind it, holds ISO 9000 quality certification.
In the kitchen
- Stews, braises and hearty soups.
- Home-fried fish and vegetables.
- Everyday salads.
- Toast and sandwiches.
- Stir-fries and sofritos.
Its medium-low profile means the same oil can be used for almost everything.
Six two-litre jugs
The twelve-litre case is the most practical option for large families or for anyone who would rather not think about oil for months. Each 2-litre jug is light, easy to handle and opened only when needed.
To preserve its aromas, the jugs are best kept somewhere cool and dark, away from the hob.
