La Pastira extra virgin olive oil from Aceites Monteolivo (Jaén). Medium fruitiness, for raw use and cooking. Case of three 5 L containers.
La Pastira's everyday oil
Some oil is never saved for special occasions: the one that always sits beside the stove, poured without measuring over breakfast toast, used to fry, dress and finish every dish of the week. That is what La Pastira Virgen Extra is made for. It comes from the Aceites Monteolivo mill in Villanueva de la Reina, in the heart of the Jaén countryside, where the olives of more than four hundred local growers are pressed every autumn.
It is a superior-category extra virgin olive oil, obtained directly from olives and solely by mechanical means, packed in 5-litre containers with a handle and sold in cases of three: 15 litres of Jaén oil for your pantry.
Tasting notes
Medium fruitiness, friendly and rounded. An all-purpose oil: expressive enough to enjoy raw, and balanced enough to accompany any preparation without overpowering the other ingredients.

Three 5-litre containers
This is the case exactly as the mill sells it: three 5 L containers of the same reference, 15 litres in total. The price is for the complete case, not a single container. The photograph shows one of the real containers; the quantity you receive is always the one stated in the product name.
Three containers let you keep one in use and the others closed in a cool, dark place until their turn comes. The handle makes it easy to pour straight from the container or refill a kitchen cruet. It is the format for households where oil is used every day, and for anyone who likes a pantry stocked for the whole season.
For the whole kitchen
Its medium fruitiness makes it versatile. Raw, over bread with tomato, in salads, gazpacho or roasted vegetables, it brings olive flavour without sharp edges. In the frying pan and the casserole it is a good partner for sofrito, slow-cooked stews, grilled fish, fried eggs and potatoes. It also works in home baking, in sponges and doughs where oil replaces butter.
Because it is an everyday oil, it is worth tasting on its own too, with a piece of bread, to get to know its profile. It is the base on which everyday cooking in Jaén is built.
Frequently asked questions
Are all three containers the same? Yes: all three hold the same La Pastira extra virgin olive oil. Is a single container sold separately? The mill sells it in cases of three, and that is how we offer it. Which olive variety is it? The producer does not state the variety on the label or product page, so we do not mention one.
Close the container tightly after each use and keep it away from light and heat. The batch and best-before date appear on each container. The stated volume refers to the oil, not to the case packaging.
