Tasting Nobleza del Sur Centenarium

The Picual from centuries-old trees is recognised by an immediate burst of clean, fruity and herbaceous fragrance: olive leaf, wheatgrass, tomato, banana and green almond. On the palate it opens sweet, with light bitterness and pepperiness and a delicate persistence.

The Arbequina offers a gentler profile, with notes of fresh fruit, ideal for those who prefer friendly oils.

A family that picks by hand

Nobleza del Sur is a family company in Jaén that handles the whole process: growing, harvesting, milling, storage and bottling. Each year it selects the fruit from its estates and picks it by hand at the optimum point of ripeness.

The house has featured in the Flos Olei guide since 2012 and has won awards at AVPA Paris, Los Angeles International and Jaén Selección.

How to enjoy Nobleza del Sur Centenarium

  • Picual: carpaccios, tomato and meats.
  • Arbequina: white fish and baking.
  • Seasonal salads.
  • Rice dishes, added at the end.
  • Freshly baked bread.

Having both varieties makes it possible to choose the oil to suit the dish.

The 250 ml bottle makes it easy to hold a small tasting at home: a little Picual and a little Arbequina in two glasses, with white bread, to compare how the same family and the same land produce two such different oils. It is also a simple way to decide which variety best suits everyday cooking.
