L’Or de Ponent

In the dry farmland of Lleida, between the Segrià and Les Garrigues, Arbequina is almost a badge of identity. There, at the Molí d’Alcanó of Grup Fruits de Ponent, L’Or de Ponent is made under the Les Garrigues PDO.

It is Catalan oil from a cooperative and the land: smooth and almondy, with a green-apple note that calls for toasted bread and a pinch of salt. For anyone used to intense Picual, it is the other face of extra virgin, delicate and gentle, and just as serious.
