A fruit salad

On the nose there is fresh-olive fruitiness led by banana, apple and pear, with light touches of green grass and freshly cut hay. It is a gentle, luminous profile with the slight peppery hint typical of Jaén Arbequinas.

On the palate the entry is quick, fluid and sweet. Fresh grass, green almond and a true fruit salad dominate; little by little a light pungency and barely perceptible bitterness appear.

The first day

First Day of Harvest was born from a simple idea: to capture in a bottle the oil of the first day of picking, with all the freshness of early olives. Each edition dedicates its label to a figure from the arts, sciences or sport.

Castillo de Canena is a family company that controls the whole process, from tree to bottle. Its Jaén estate works under integrated production certification, and the house holds awards such as Alimentos de España and Flos Olei's best olive oil company.

In the kitchen

  • Baked and steamed fish.
  • Vinaigrettes and mayonnaise.
  • Sponge cakes, creams and desserts, instead of butter.
  • Fruit salads and tender leaves.

Its sweetness makes it especially useful in baking, where it adds moistness and a very delicate fruity aroma.

Six half-litre bottles

The case makes it possible to enjoy a limited edition throughout the season, opening the bottles one at a time so the rest stay fresh. It is also a prestigious gift for those who follow First Day of Harvest every year.

The bottles are best kept somewhere cool and dark, away from heat.
