Baeturia Spicy, Case of 4 × 250 ml bottles

Morisca EVOO condiment flavoured with smoked Pimentón de la Vera PDO and cayenne: smoky, slightly sweet, medium heat. 250 ml.

Spicy: the smoke of La Vera in an Extremaduran oil

Baeturia makes this condiment with its Morisca extra virgin olive oil, flavoured with smoked Pimentón de la Vera, a Protected Designation of Origin paprika, and a touch of cayenne. The result is a warm-coloured oil that recalls smoked wood with spicy notes on the nose, and on the palate leaves a medium heat dominated by slightly sweet smoky flavours.

This is a flavoured olive oil (prepared condiment), not a pure extra virgin olive oil; it keeps its natural colour.

Oil from Extremadura

Baeturia takes its name from the ancient region the Romans placed in the south of today’s province of Badajoz, a land of dehesa pastures, holm oaks and old olive groves. From there, the house makes extra virgin olive oils from Extremadura’s own varieties, such as Morisca, Carrasqueña and Manzanilla Cacereña. Its oil is cold-extracted at 22 ºC on the same day the olives are picked, to keep all the freshness of the fruit in the bottle.

In the kitchen

A few drops transform a Spanish omelette, fried eggs, Galician-style octopus, roast potatoes or a pizza fresh from the oven. It also livens up hummus, pulse purées, meat marinades and grilled skewers.

Use and storage

This is a finishing oil, not a frying oil: its aroma shines when added raw, at the last moment, over food already on the plate. A few drops or a fine drizzle are enough, as it carries a lot of flavour. Once opened, close the bottle tightly after each use and keep it in a cool place away from light so that it keeps its aromas for longer.
