Baeturia Alcuza cruets “Aceitunera” and “Aceitunero”, 2 × 500 ml

Baeturia Alcuza Cruets brings together the Aceitunera and the Aceitunero, two stainless steel cruets decorated with olive-harvest scenes and a band of tiles. Each arrives filled with 500 ml of extra virgin olive oil from Zafra, in Badajoz, and is later refilled with your everyday oil.

Baeturia Alcuza Cruets brings both of the house’s cruets together in one pack, the Aceitunera and the Aceitunero, each filled with 500 ml of extra virgin olive oil. The alcuza is the traditional oil cruet of southern Spanish kitchens, the conical vessel that waited beside the stove, and here it returns in stainless steel.

Both pieces carry olive-harvest scenes and a band of tiles, as if the grove had decided to settle on the worktop. When the oil runs out, the cruet is not thrown away: you refill it with your own oil and it keeps serving for years.

How the oil in Baeturia Alcuza Cruets tastes

Nose

Medium-high fruitiness, with green notes of freshly cut grass and hints of ripe fruit, plus vegetal nuances at different stages of ripeness.

Palate

Bitterness and pepperiness arrive at medium intensity, without taking over, and leave vegetal notes that linger on the palate.

Finish

It finishes on hints of nuts, which stretch the memory of the oil once it has been served.

Baeturia, oil from Extremadura

Baeturia takes its name from the ancient region the Romans placed in the south of today’s province of Badajoz, a land of dehesa pastures, holm oaks and old olive groves. From Zafra, the house makes its extra virgin olive oils from Extremadura’s own varieties, such as Morisca, Carrasqueña and Manzanilla Cacereña.

The oil is cold-extracted at 22 ºC on the same day the olives are picked, to keep all the freshness of the fruit in the bottle. That same care is what fills each cruet in Baeturia Alcuza Cruets.

Where the cruet’s oil shines

  • A fine thread over toast with grated tomato.
  • Salads and tomatoes dressed at the last moment.
  • Grilled or roasted vegetables, once on the plate.
  • Stews and pulses, to finish them at the table.
  • Grilled fish and meat, with a few drops at serving.

With Baeturia Alcuza Cruets on the table, the oil is served right at the moment of eating, when it smells most of fruit and freshly cut grass.

Two cruets in a single pack

Baeturia Alcuza Cruets, pack of 2 × 500 ml

Baeturia Alcuza Cruets pours straight from the cruet: its spout lets you dose a fine thread over any dish, without drips or excess. When it is empty, simply refill it with your everyday oil. It is a container made to last, which is why it works so well as a gift that stays in the kitchen.

To keep the oil in good condition, store it away from the stove and direct light, and rinse it now and then with warm water before refilling.
